Mission & Philosophy
Our Mission
At Puratani, our mission is to revive, preserve, and propagate the sacred traditions of Sanatan Dharma as rooted in the Vedas, Puranas, and Agamic texts. In an era marked by rapid modernity and cultural dilution, we strive to uphold the timeless wisdom of dharmic living through authentic rituals, scriptural education, and spiritually grounded community practices. We seek not spectacle, but sanctity — a return to the inner essence of worship, where devotion (bhakti), discipline (nishtha), and scriptural fidelity (shastriya maryada) form the core of all that we do.
Our Philosophy
Puratani believes that true cultural preservation lies not in external celebration, but in inner transformation. We stand for the pouranik way of worship — steeped in tradition, yet responsive to the needs of contemporary seekers. Our approach is rooted in guru-parampara, scriptural accuracy, and service to dharma. We do not commercialize festivals; we spiritualize them. Through pujas, yajnas, discourses, and outreach, we aim to rekindle the sacred fire of tradition — not merely as a ritual, but as a living force that guides, protects, and purifies.

Puratani is more than just an organization — it is a movement of heart, heritage, and dharma. Our journey began in 2020, when three friends, disenchanted with the growing spectacle and dilution of spiritual essence in modern Durga Puja celebrations, decided to take a different path. They were troubled by the rising culture of extravagance, commercial rivalry among puja committees, and the growing disconnect from scriptural purity and spiritual intent. Loud DJs, towering pandals, and donation drives had slowly overshadowed Devi Durga Herself — the divine soul of the festival.
In humble resolve, they chose to worship Bhagavati Durga not with fanfare, but with shraddha (devotion), vidhi (proper ritual), and nishtha (discipline) — exactly as the Puranas and Agamas prescribe. What started with just a few hands and hearts soon grew — two more friends joined, and eventually, ten like-minded families came together to form Puratani.
We are not a puja committee. We are a collective of families and seekers working toward reviving the sacred, restoring the lost, and reclaiming the purity of Sanatan Bengali traditions — religiously, culturally, and ethically.
Our Services & Initiatives
At Puratani, we strive to bridge the ancient with the present through a wide spectrum of cultural and dharmic efforts:
🔱 Traditional Ritual Worship
-
Scripturally accurate Durga Puja, performed with all Pauranik vidhis, homas, yajnas, and alankaras — free from commercialism.
-
Observance of lesser known, forgotten vrat & festivals such as Savitri Brata, Magh Brata, Surya Brata, Dol Jatra, Rash Jatra, and more.
📚 Revival & Education
-
Reintroduction of lost Bengali folk deities and their pujas.
-
Preservation and revival of kirtan, Padabali, and bhakti sangeet traditions in metropolitan settings like Bangalore.
-
Hosting lectures, discussions, and scriptural learning sessions to educate children and adults in Vedic and Puranic knowledge.
🕊️ Cultural Restoration & Community Building
-
Working with families to create value-based upbringings rooted in Sanatan Dharma.
-
Offering an inclusive, transparent, and spiritually nourishing environment — not for profit, but for paramartha (higher purpose).
-
Celebrating festivals not as social events, but as opportunities for spiritual elevation, inner discipline, and divine connection.
In a world driven by speed, spectacle, and superficiality, Puratani stands for depth, devotion, and dharma. We envision a society where children grow up learning why a ritual is done, not just how. A society where cultural expression is a reflection of inner refinement, not outer show. Where even in the busiest cities, the eternal pulse of Sanatan Dharma continues to flow — quietly, but powerfully.
