Puranas
The Puranas are a genre of ancient Indian texts that contain diverse narratives about the creation of the universe, genealogies of Hindu Dev-Devis, and the history of ancient kings. They play a vital role in Sanatan culture, providing moral lessons and spiritual guidance through engaging stories and mythologies. With 18 major Puranas, they offer a wealth of knowledge about religious practices, cosmology, and the cultural heritage of India.
Lost Traditions
Ancient Bengal was a vibrant center of civilization, known for its advancements in art, philosophy, and trade, as well as its deep spiritual roots. The lost traditions of Bengali Hindus include unique rituals such as Nabanna, celebrating the harvest, and the worship of various deities through elaborate festivals like Durga Puja, Magh Vrata, Surya Vrata etc. Reviving these customs can foster a appreciation for Bengal's rich cultural tapestry and strengthen community bonds in modern society.
Sadhaks of Bengal
Bengal has birthed great Hindu saints across traditions — Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, the golden incarnation of Krishna, led the Gaudiya Vaishnava bhakti movement with ecstatic kirtans. Ramprasad Sen, the Shakta poet-saint, composed soul-stirring Shyama Sangeet to Ma Kali, said to be sung by the goddess herself. From Advaita, Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa experienced divine union through all paths — Shakta, Shaiva, Vaishnava — declaring: "All religions lead to the same truth."
Heritage of Bengal
Bengal’s heritage is a vibrant confluence of Vedic, Pauranic, Tantric, and Bhakti traditions, making it a sacred cradle of Sanatan Dharma. From Kalighat and Tarapith to the ecstatic kirtans of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu and the Advaitic wisdom of Ramakrishna Paramahamsa, Bengal has nurtured saints, shastras, and shakti alike. Its living culture — through Durga Puja, mystic poetry, temple rituals, and sacred music — continues to echo the timeless soul of Hindu civilization.
Mission
Remembrance, Revival, Identity
Puratani exists to revive the sacred essence of Sanātan Dharma in a time when its soul is being forgotten.
Our mission is to restore the authenticity of Vedic worship — not as empty ritual, but as a living spiritual science rooted in śāstra, bhakti, and inner discipline. In a world where sacred traditions are often reduced to spectacle, we stand for precision, purity, and purpose in every act of devotion.
We conduct scripturally accurate rituals, educate communities, and awaken cultural memory — building not just structures for worship, but bridges to our ancestors, our dharma, and our divine identity.
Our collective is composed of scholars, purohits, artists, educators, and inspired youth who unite sacred knowledge with devoted service. Each member is a custodian of heritage, committed to transmitting the timeless wisdom of the rishis with integrity and reverence.
We do not perform worship — we embody it.
We do not preserve nostalgia — we revive a living tradition.
We do not organise events — we uphold dharma.
This is the mission of Puratani. Timeless. Uncompromising. Sacred.
Donate
At Puratani, every offering — whether of time, intent, or resource — becomes a sacred act of preservation. Carrying out this dharmic endeavour demands not just devotion, but considerable effort and support: from sourcing authentic ritual materials and engaging scripturally trained priests, to conducting community outreach and educational programs rooted in Sanatan wisdom. Unlike spectacle-driven events, every rupee entrusted to us nurtures authentic worship, cultural continuity, and spiritual education. We humbly invite you to become a part of this sacred mission — not merely as a donor, but as a protector of heritage. Even if you are unable to be present physically, your contribution echoes in every mantra chanted, every mind enlightened, and every tradition upheld.
